Job Title: Sr. Buyer
General Function
Generates purchase orders for all materials and services. Supervises preparation of orders and follows up to expedite delivery and shipment. Obtains certifications of delivery and conducts check against orders. Checks and approves invoices for orders placed. Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation. Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply. Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers, and schedules delivers.
Duties and Responsibilities

Perform departmental duties associated with maintaining and ordering of systems equipment and components

Negotiate and maintain long term agreements and contracts as required
-
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Responsible for understanding demand and reacting to and communicating changes to supplier
-
Reviews all planned orders.

Prepares purchase orders and submit to supplier
-
May approve invoices for payment.
-
May expedite delivery of goods to users.

Become the designated Point of Contact (POC) between the suppliers and factory
-
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action

Develops and fosters a teamwork environment.

Input and maintenance of special tasks within the BU systems
-
Capable of communicating and working closely with other departments
-
Will develop annual objectives in concert with departmental and company goals.

Complete assignments in a timely manner as directed
Required Knowledge and Skills
-
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with preferably a minor in supply chain or production control.
-
A minimum of five to eight years of experience in the supply chain/purchasing area.
-
Preferably management experience.
-
The candidate must be well organized, analytical work well with others, and have excellent computer skills in the areas of Microsoft Office products at an intermediate or advance level.

Project management experience, knowledgeable of six sigma or lean manufacturing.
-
Must be willing to travel 30% of the time.

APICS Certification, preferred.
